Mini Lace Hanging

This  is my small vintage inspired hanging. (I am not sure why the first two pictures got turned )

From the top of the hanger to the bottom of the lace it is 9 1/2 inches. It is 5 inches wide.I used a small doll hanger for the hanger and 2 filigree pieces folded over and attached to the lace project to connect it to the hanger.

I started with a ciggy print  then added 4 different laces to the sides and top and bottom. Then to the top I added a large blue and small rose pink ribbon roses. Then in the right corner I had this pretty vintage rhinestone pin. I just pinned it to it. On the bottom right hand corner I just mimicked  the upper corner with the ribbon roses again. The bottom left corner I used the center from a vintage blue crystal necklace. ( The clasp was broken)
On the back I simply cut a square from a rectangle vintage doily. I added lace around the top and sides.  Then added the same lace from the front bottom only a little longer so from the front you get to see two layers of lace.

I know this picture is a little dark. I am sorry there is still snow on the ground and it is a little over cast today.

But here is the way I am going to display it in my home. Hanging from my living room lamp. I just love it there. I hope you like it also.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time. Carol

Lace Crazy Quilt Block

This is the first block of the lace crazy quilt I was talking about. It is a 6 1/2 inch block to finish as a 6 inch. This one only has 3 different laces. I am only going to use white laces so it will be a white quilt when finished. Each block will also have a white embroidered design somewhere in it.

Here it is. Please let me know what you think as I go along. Thanks for following along. Until next time. Carol

Some Place To Put Things

As some of you my remember I have shut my Etsy shop that I sold my laces from. I now have all this lace put away in boxes every where. So I was sitting at my work table the other day and I saw I had a pretty but simple hurricane lamp sitting there empty. So I thought to myself (as I often do) why is that empty when I have all these pretty lace supplies hidden away in boxes?

So I threw the string pearls in but couldn't leave well enough alone So now I have this on my work table. (makes me happy)

So then I spotted 2 jars I had put on my table for just that purpose but just hadn't taken the time to work on them

So I figured as I was working on one I may as well do them all. I like having them here where I can get to them.

So I added enough for me and there is still way to much for me to ever use up. So start looking for many more laces in the shop. I will keep some and share some.

I make laces and have all those that I had listed in the shop. Plus as some of you may remember there is a sweet older women (90) up the street from me who has a vintage lace shop. Every month I buy yards from her because they are to pretty to resist. I also have a passion for Venice lace. So I have it by the yardage also. (what's a girl to do?)

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time. Carol

Getting Ready For Christmas

I just want to share with you today this stocking I started for Christmas.

I decided to make it white so I could embroider this pretty Christmas tree in graduated greens, first a teal green, then a soft green, then a Christmas green. There are touches of gold also.

I then added the different laces in a crazy quilt pattern. To the lace I have added sequins, beads and pearls. I also added beads to the tree.

It is almost time to start thinking about what is for dinner so I am going to call it a day on it . I will let you see it as I get further along on it.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time. Carol

What is with all the crystal?

The month of June something happened to me. Not sure why.

I have always loved crystal pieces. I ask for it for Christmas, look for it everywhere I go. Buy china cabinets for it. But the month of June I got a little crazy. I have already showed a small part but was to embarrassed  to show it all so I will show it to you a little at a time.
This lovely piece

The same person had this  lovely piece. So of course I had to have it.

Then at another place I found these lovelies!
They are the candlewick pattern. It is hard to see in the photo but you can tell from the cup handles.
It is also on the trays. I also like the way the trays are square. But look at the last photo, that is the bottom of the cup. Square, to cool.

I have four luncheon trays and cups they will go on my Etsy shop. I told myself the top ones would also, we will see.( I have my doubts) Let me know what you think.

I also found 2 more of these. I had them (12) in my shop a while back and they sold well. So I thought I would get these two. I listed them today. The glass ones will go on maybe tomorrow.

I also listed this English mix and match tea cup. I have several more and will show you in a couple of days.
Then I listed this mix and match pink and soft green tea set. It also has a pink depression glass creamer and a Jennette Glass covered pedestal sugar dish. Love it!

Well that is enough for me for today. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time. Carol

Rose Dish Set

I found this lovely set on my last buying trip.

I have listed it in my Etsy shop. It is a nice large set.
Six place setting of six.

A cup and saucer, dinner plate, salad plate, vegetable bowl, desert plate. Plus a large meat platter, large vegetable server, and a plated gravy boat.

What a great way to build a shabby chic mix and match dinnerware set. Use as is and add pink, blue, green and yellow dishes a little at a time as you find them and you have yourself a shabby chic dinnerware set!

Thank you for stopping by. Please leave a comment so I know that you did.

Until next time. Carol

Happy Fourth

I hope you have a wonderful fourth of July.

Our prayers are with those who went through the Hurricane and the fires.

I have a nice summer salad recipe I would like to share with you. Nice and cool for a hot 4th of July.

WATERMELON-BLUEBERRY SALAD

Toss this salad just before serving so the fruit doesn't water out and dilute the dressing.

4  cups  cubed seeded watermelon

1/2   cup blueberries

1/4    cup honey

1 1/2  tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

2 tablespoons of  freshly chopped mint

1. Place watermelon and blueberries in a medium bowl.

2. Combine honey and next 4 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk. Stir in mint. Drizzle dressing over fruit;toss gently.

Serves 4 (serving size about 1 cup)

I hope you have a chance to make this nice cool summer salad for the 4th but if not it will be nice anytime during the warm weather. It also would make a nice desert. Also here is a tip for measuring honey. Coat your spoon or cup with cooking spray first and it wont stick.

Enjoy! Until next time. Carol

Wednesday Clipart

Wednesday clip art for you. I hope you find something you can use with your art work.

Until next time. Carol

Etsy preview

Just a few more of the many pieces I have picked up the last several weeks.

This piece is one I really liked as it has a very unique shape. I love the way the diamond shapes are extended along the bottom then how it drops to a gentle slope.

And this beauty. It is cut glass with a iridescent  sheen. I have never seen one like it and feel in love with it.

And last but not least this pretty flat pedestal dish. It has so much character. It is simple but the shape is soft oval not round. It appears to have handles but they really aren't it is just the shape.

These are just a few of the many pretty finds I have gotten just recently. Now I just need to get busy getting them on my Etsy shop so you can enjoy them as much as I am.

Until next time. Carol

My Latest Finds

This is just a few of the finds From my shopping hunt yesterday.

As you can see I found a Spode Blue Room Collection plate. Of course it is not old but a promotion piece. But it is still a Blue Room Spode piece. Very pretty not real dark but a soft blue.

I also found this dome top all alone so I thought it would work with something so I just had to have it.
And sure enough here is the piece. What do you think? With or without?

Then I came across these sweet saucers. They have a swirl in the china and a real pretty rose and bud. There is a silver ring around it's edge. Too cute! I will add cups for a mix and match set.

I then came across this pretty hand painted tray.
There is no markings on the bottom but you can easily tell it is vintage.
Last but not least. This sweet little tray. Maybe for candy, your jewelry, keys or whatever you would need or want it for.

I will be adding these and many more pieces to my Etsy shop. So if you see something you like and it is not yet in the shop please contact me through the shop and I will be glad to help you . I have many more pieces that I picked up yesterday and will be showing them here then listing them in the shop. So please check back to see what is new.

Until next time. Carol
