Spiritual Sunday

I have had to be away for awhile. There were some things that needed my attention. I have always love this group and hope to be able to keep up with you all again.

My prayers go out to Charlotte as she goes to surgery tomorrow. I know the good Lord will keep His hands upon her as well as the doctor and the nurses.

I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

Thank you for visiting, until next time . Carol

Spending the weekend with a Grandchild

I spent the weekend with my 4 and 1/2 (they learn about that half so young while we are trying to forget it) year old granddaughter Anna.
This sweet little girl in the picture reminds me of her. She has long brown hair and a beautiful smile. She also showed up with striped leggings a long sleeve top with a pretty pink dress. I know to a lot of you that is everyday. But not for me you see I raised 2 wonderful boys. And I mean all boys frogs, rocks, holes in the knees of their pants after a days play and stinky feet! Mind you I would not change a thing or ask for it to be any different. But now I am blessed with 2 sweet granddaughters. And what a blessing to get to buy dresses, ruffle socks, and anything pink. Thank you Lord!
Her Paw paw and I took her to the movies to see the Princes and the frog. We had a great time. As the movie got to be a little long for her she climbed into my lap to finish watching it. ( Oh yeah Heaven) She loves fruity candies so she had a box of Skittles and ate it all. Then we took her out for Mexican Food she loves cheese cascades, yes a Mexican cheese sandwich. And yes anything she wants. Then we went home and she ate two bowls of chocolate chip ice cream. Please don't tell her Mom.
She is so tiny. I do understand how they burn so much energy, never sitting still. Wouldn't it be nice to have the same blessing when we get older. Yes we burn it when we move but it takes so much more moving. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
Thank you for letting me share my weekend with my granddaughter with you. Until next time. Carol

Quilt to finish by the end of the month

Sorry I haven't written anything for awhile. But I have been trying to get my sewing room organized and all my UFO'S together. I have done a pretty good start with all the other things life hands you to do.

My first goal is to finish the ovarian cancer quilt. It wont be to much longer. But I am going to also post this throw quilt into the arena for Kim's Big Quilting Adventure challenge.

I am not sure whats wrong with me but I sure can get alot of things started but I am having trouble finishing things. That is why I am so grateful for these ladies who are willing to help give us girls a little shove.

So head on over and check her out. She has give aways and also links to others who are giving away things. As well as alot of beautiful projects alot of talent ladies are finishing.

Until next time. Carol

I was picked

WOW! This never happens to me. But this morning it did.

I was looking around at some different blogs the other day and came across Kim's Big Quilting Adventure. I love quilting so I thought I would check her out. She was having a give away that day. She had a choice of 4 different groups of patterns.

All of us girls who sew have way to many patterns. So she came up with the clever idea to group together some of hers and share them with those who would just leave a comment and tell her they would like one of them and just tell her which one. Well to make a long story short I told her I would like #4. An apron pattern and a pineapple quilt pattern.

We were to check back this morning and see who was picked. You know it for #4 it was me! Yeah.

You need to go on over and check out her blog. http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/ She is so funny. Please be sure to check out her picture of herself. It's a real hoot.

Thank you Kim. This was a fun idea.

Tagged

Char over at Someplace in Thyme (http://someplaceinthyme.blogspot.com/) tagged several of us bloggers the other day. She was tagged and had to tell 10 things about herself others may not know and then tag other bloggers. Then in return those of us who were tagged did the same.So here goes my 10.

1- Harriett a good friend of mine lost her battle with breast cancer in April of 2008 after fighting it for 10 years. One month before that I found out another long time friend Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Both of these women are good Christian women with such sweet attitudes. I praise God he put both of them in my life.

2-I was a painting contractor.

3-Nancy and I are heading for Saint Louise September 15 to go to Joyce Meyers Women's Convention. We are going by train and we are going to stay for 10 days and see some sites while we are there. We really want Judy to go also but her husband is sick right now and she can't leave him.

4-I would like to open a house to help women. Teach them about Christ. Help them get off welfare and help them learn to help themselves and others. Judy, Nancy and myself are always talking about this.

5-I love coffee with more milk than coffee.

6-If you saw my sewing room you would think it ate a quilt shop.(way to much stuff and not enough time.)

7-I love to shop thrift shops. Can't leave one without something. Most of the time to much somethings.

8- I love restaurant hamburgers. Not fast food ones. With the kids grown hubby and I eat out way to much. He is still amazed that I want a hamburger more than some of the nice dishes they have. Who knows where that comes from.

9-I do love McDonald's salads. When Judy and I go off (we are usually heading for a thrift store or a fabric store) and we don't want to spend our money on food instead of all the good finds. So we head for McDonald's.

10-I am collecting teapots for a Christmas tree I want to decorate for Christmas this year.

Aug. Project For Charming Girls Quilt Club

I want to thank Kelly for hosting this club so we charming girls can put to rest some of our UFO's. (unfinished objects) I hope you will click on the button on my side bar to get to her blog, you will see lots of different and beautiful quilts the other ladies are finishing.

I showed this back on May the 14th.(yes I know that was 2 1/2 months ago.) That is why we need help with our UFO's. Thanks again Kelly for the push.

September is Ovarian Cancer month. I truly want this finished and given to them by September. I need to baste it together then quilt it and put on the binding. I do hope you ladies will cheer me on so I will get it done.

Teal is the color for ovarian cancer so I decided to go with several different teal fabrics. I used a tone on tone white for the background of the embroidery squares. I used a damask pattern in teal for the embroidery there is one that is of a damask peacock. As a reminder that the Good Lord made all of us women beautiful and we should support each other.

I hope you will check back and see the progress I am making. Good luck to all of you who are playing along this month.

Thank you for dropping by, please do often.Until next time. Carol

And whenever we need Him,

He'll always be there!

I hope you will enjoy a cup of tea with my apologies

I want to apologize for not writing for a couple of days. I really do love doing this. But I am in the middle of painting the office in my house and then I will be going straight to the living room. And as most of you know, weather you do the painting or someone else for you, it takes awhile.

I have always enjoyed painting my house (And use to have my own painting business) but it is alot of work. It is looking pretty and I will be sure to take some pictures to show you at a later date.

But for now I need to get back to work. Please grab a cup of tea and enjoy going through some of my older post.

Thank you for dropping by. Until next time. Carol

Romans 12 :1 The Message Bible

Here is what I want you to do,God helping you:
Take your everyday, ordinary life-
your sleeping, eating, going to work,
and walking- around life-
and place it before God as an offering.
Embracing what God does for you is the
best thing you can do for him.

I want to thank Charlotte and Ginger for hosting such a Wonderful place in blogland on Sundays to share together our Lord.

Summer Swap

I belong to a group of very talented and friendly ladies. Etsy Cottage Style. Debbie who is in charge is the lady who designed my blog. Another one of the ladies Char started a summer swap and I joined. Char assigned Pam as my partner. We had to swap three things, one a beach scene, one a floral, and one a bird nest. One thing had to be made the others could be bought.

For the beach theme Pam sent me a bag with a Victorian man and woman at the beach. I sent her a box with a Victorian woman at the beach. It is nice to have a partner that thinks like you. I also added shells and trim. For the floral Pam hand embroidered a rose arbor for me with the tiniest stitches I have ever seen then she made a pillow for me with it. It is the perfect color for my house. I made a scalloped edged reversible table topper for her. For the bird nest she sent me 4 gift tags with bird nest on them she had made. I sent her a teacup with a bird nest in it.
On my side bar is a button for Etsy Cottage Style you can click on and see all the beautiful things they do . I know they would love to have you join in or even just drop by to see what new things are going on.
I want to thank Char for putting on such a good swap. Hope we can do it again soon.

Until next time Carol

Spiritual Sunday

Blessings Come In Many Guises

When troubles come and things go wrong

And days are cheerless and nights are long,

We find it so easy to give in to despair

By magnifying the burdens we bear.

We add to our worries by refusing to try

To look for the rainbows in the overcast sky,

And the blessing God sent in a darkened disguise

Our trouble hearts fail to recognize,

Not knowing God sent it not to distress us

But to strength our faith and redeem us and bless us.

Helen Steiner Rice

How beautiful she puts it. If only even in our down times if we would just have a little quite faith and look up we could see the blessings much quicker.
Don't forget to click on the Spiritual Sunday button on my side bar to read more uplifting things.

Christmas in July

I have started doing some Christmas painting. I use to sell these at our local craft fairs. But I got burned out doing them. I did them in the traditional Christmas colors. They sold well but then I got my Etsy shop and stopped doing them.

Last year I started decorating one room in my house in pink and aqua for Christmas. So I have decided to do a few Santa's for that room. Here I am loving it again so you my see some in my Etsy shop in time for Christmas.

The pictures are of the beginning of the work, to the second stage were you base coat, then the final step of dry brushing to detail work. The one that is finished is one I picked up one day when Judy and I were out junking. It was all white and gold. Pretty but a little boring. So I could see the potential for a pink and aqua Santa for my room.

The other ones are ceramic. The one that nothing has been done to is a mistletoe Santa. The one you see that I have started base coating is a Santa feeding one of the reindeer's.

I am having so much fun painting again I thought I would share it with you. I will put them on again when they are completed.

Thank you for stopping by until next time Carol

Taged

I told you yesterday how I joined Charming Girls Quilt Club. Well, Kelly tagged all the members yesterday. With 5 questions. So here are my answers. Please click on the quilt club tag on my side bar and see all the girls responses.

1 What is my favorite Fabric? I don't have a favorite designer but my favorite fabric would be any piece with roses. Especially pink roses. If I am at the store and I see rose material you can bet it is going home with me. Even if I have told the girls , "Now don't let me buy anymore fabric!"

2 The pattern I am most looking forward to sewing is? I just ordered and got in the mail this Five Inch Is a Cinch pattern called flower market. I love 5 inch charms. I think they are just the right size to show enough roses and yet be small enough to be able to add alot of different fabrics. I have it pictured at the top.
3 The food that is my weakness is? Well like all of us girls I love chocolate. But for me it is pastries. Add filling and top it with chocolate and I am ready to go! To me it doesn't get much better than that.
4 If I knew I couldn't fail I would? Open a house for women to come to that are on welfare to learn skills to help them be self sufficient. That could help raise the next generation to also be self sufficient.
5 The best "Life" advice I Know is? To trust the Lord for everything!
I hope you enjoy my answers. Until next time Carol

Charming Chatter

I was checking out some blogs the other day and ran across this one. As you know I love to quilt. Well for any of you who feel the same way this site is for you.

Kelly has a online quilt shop. And on her blog she has Charming girls quilt club. You sign up by leaving her a comment on her blog telling her you would like to join in. What you do is by the 9th of the month you tell her what quilt projects you plan to finish that month and for everyone that we do finish she gives us a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate from her shop. She gives away 2 a month. Which is cool but the site is mainly to help motivate us to finish those UFO'S we all have! Plus there are so many more things like an apron swap that is coming up and more. Please check it out.

I have just joined so I will be sending in next month which UFO'S I am going to finish. I am looking forward to the little push to help stop the procrastination. O, boy do I need this. So many projects not enough finished!
Click on the Charming Girls Quilt Club button on my sidebar to go to Kelly's blog. I know you will enjoy.
Until next time. Carol
